Donkeys Wood Burning Water Heaters / Geysers

Description:

Our stand alone wood burning water heaters are manufactured with premium quality Stainless Steel Grade 304 with a thickness of 3mm on each of our units. 3 different size units for households (100L, 200L and 250L). Stainless Steel Grade 304 material was the chosen material to withstand not only brak water but also the salty air from coastal households. Minimizing your electrical bills with not only quick heating of the water taking between 30 min and +-1 hour (depending on unit size) but can also stay heated for up to 12 hours or more (this may vary due to a number of external factors playing a role – during winter (or even summer) a heating blanket can be wrapped around the Donkey to help maintain the water temperature for longer).

The unit consists of 3 parts: a built-in firebox, a water tank and a chimney pipe. It has an inlet pipe at the bottom of the tank and an outlet pipe on the top of the tank (hot water rises to the top) and a pressure release outlet situated higher than the water outlet pipe on the top of the water tank.

Installation:

All our units are self-installation (we do not install these units) and it is recommended to consult a plumber if you are not 100% certain with the DIY installation. Pressure relief valve is included per Donkey. 

Clients will need the following for setting up your donkey at your household:

- Pipes for inlet and outlet (length is all depending on situation of donkey as well as water source and water destination)

- 25mm Fittings  

A small fire should be started first then gradually increase into a medium sized fire. No large fire should be made as this will lead to overheating by over-stoking which can lead to serious consequences – over-stoking means adding too much wood to make the fire burn hotter and heat the water up quicker than necessary (some consequences are melting of your inlet or outlet water pipes due to the very extreme temperature of the fire and or water / too much pressure which causes your heated water to go back through the inlet pipe or the pressure will start finding another escape routes to alleviate the pressure built up from the over-stoking)

Condensation – COMMON MISCONCEPTION:

Due to condensation taking place one will think that the donkey is leaking WHICH IS NOT TRUE!! Condensation is the process through which the physical state of matter changes from the gaseous phase into the liquid phase – in this case the cooler outside air comes into contact with the very hot chimney or water tank of the donkey and is converted into water that sits on the donkey making it look like it is leaking when in actual fact it is not – a geyser blanket helps retain the heat and minimize condensation.

Maintenance:

To help pro long the life of your donkey you need to maintain it by removing the Ash from the built-in firebox and cleaning the chimney pipe making sure no debris is inside (this could be due to winds that have blown anything into the chimney pipe).
